Wrap-up: PM holds its own!

The YoungCuts International Film Festival wrapped up this weekend with a nice
turnout for the second and final screening of Pure Malice on the morning of October 30, at Fairview Mall's Rainbow Cinemas.
Director Ann Pirvu was in attendance, carrying a bright smile on her face left over from the night before: the festivals'
Awards Ceremonies.
The proceedings lasted almost two hours, and Awards Categories included Best Screen
Test, Animated Film, Documentary, Music Video, Foreign Film ( an American film- the Businessman- was the winner --lol!), Director,
Actor, Actress, Trailer, Special Effects, Sound, Cinematography, and Editing. The top films in each age group category ( 16
and under/ 19 and under/ 24 and under) were also honored.
The festivals' 100 films were all potentially eligible, regardless of what
category they fell under ( drama , comedy, horror--etc) or how long they were ( either 2 min or 93 min like Pure Malice),
so under these circumstances, Ms. Pirvu was delighted to hear the film's name honored with 2 different nominations.
Pure Malice was nominated for 2 awards, Best Actress ( Ann Pirvu) and Best
Trailer ( as determined by the Toronto audience that watched various trailers from the festival featured on RAZER TV).

by Storm!
The Berkeley Video and Film Festival Team from California has definitely confirmed
that Pure Malice
has received
a " Best of Festival Award" for the
STUDENT FILMMAKER CATEGORY.
The news first came with the arrival of a
BVFF
Program Schedule at the Pirvu residence
early last week. Upon contacting Berkeley on Oct 26
to
inquire specifically what this means,
we
have been informed that an actual
Award package
will be mailed out within
the
next couple of weeks and very warmly
congratulated
for our achievements.
In addition, "Pure Malice" is to be screened in California
at a future time still to be determined.
